When the Nintendo Switch was first announced in July 2015, many fans and critics took the chance to ask the company why they would release an official Nintendo Switch console when Nintendo’s other consoles were already available.
The Switch was announced to be a hybrid console that would be able to run a wide variety of games, including the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic expansion, as well as other popular titles.
When the console was finally released in April 2017, it was met with much acclaim from gamers and critics alike.
The console has since received positive reviews from numerous outlets, with many praising the console for its “immersive” design and its “gaming-focused features.”
Nintendo has been very vocal about its desire to push the Switch into the mainstream, and in May 2018, the company announced that the Switch would be available in select Walmart stores on June 1.
It was also announced that Nintendo would begin shipping the Switch in stores in select countries on July 1.
However, as of August 30, 2018, Walmart stores in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, and Turkey are no longer selling the Switch.
It is unknown if any of these stores will be able sell the Switch at any point in the future.
While Walmart has already announced that it will start selling the Nintendo system in a number of states, it is unclear if Walmart will continue to sell the system in any other locations.
What’s more, in October 2018, it also announced it would begin selling the Xbox One, a system that has been in use for nearly 10 years.
Walmart currently has around 20,000 stores across the US and in many countries around the world.
